HUBER ENGINEERED MATERIALS ANNOUNCES GLOBAL PRICE INCREASE IN RUBBER AND SPECIALTY PRECIPITATED SILICA
Huber Engineered Materials, part of J.M. Huber Corporation, today announced a global price increase on its grades of “specialty” and “rubber” precipitated silica.
The increase of 10 percent or higher, depending on the product, is effective October 1, 2005, or as contracts allow.
The company cited increased raw materials, energy and transportation costs. According to company officials, these increases, and impact of inflation experienced by Huber Engineered Materials' silica group, rapidly outpaced the capability to offset them with program like 6 sigma cost reduction projects. “The costs simply cannot be absorbed any longer and require Huber to raise prices again,” said Rajeev Karpe, global marketing director of Huber’s silica business unit.
