Huber's Health and Nutrition Unit To Emphasize Modesto Processing Capabilties At SupplySide West

ATLANTA, Sept. 22, 2008 – Huber Engineered Materials (HEM), part of J.M. Huber Corporation, today announced it will showcase the expanded processing capabilities of its Modesto, Calif., nutritional ingredients manufacturing facility at the SupplySide West trade show Oct. 23-24 at The Venetian and Sands Expo in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Modesto facility was purchased by Huber in 2006 and is a key component of the company’s Health and Nutrition business unit.  The processing capabilities of Modesto to be highlighted at the show include fluid bed granulation, blending and packaging.

“The Modesto facility is a key to our long-term business strategy and success, and we are looking forward to discussing its capabilities at Supplyside West,” says Minas Apelian, Ph.D., vice president and general manager for Huber’s Health and Nutrition business.  “The fluid bed granulation, blending and packaging capabilities at Modesto positions Huber for the vitamin and mineral pre-mix business and a variety of innovative formulation and packaging opportunities.”

Huber recently consolidated its Benicia, Calif., manufacturing assets to the 70,000-square-foot Modesto facility, which has resulted in a nutritional ingredients processing operation for specialty granulations, custom granulations and blends, triturations and contract manufacturing.

“The dietary supplements market is a key focus, as we see a tremendous growth opportunity with our manufacturing capabilities, quality assurance and outstanding customer service,” adds Apelian.  “In addition to our focus on dietary supplements and processed nutritional ingredients, we offer custom processing of ingredients or development of the complete formula at our Modesto facility.”

In addition to featuring the enhanced processing capabilities of the Modesto facility, Huber plans to focus on its leadership position as a leading supplier of compressible and powder forms of highly pure calcium carbonate in naturally mined and oyster shell grades for the food, nutrition and pharmaceutical markets.  Huber has additional Health and Nutrition processing facilities in Havre de Grade, Md.; Quincy, Ill.; and Etowah, Tenn.

Huber’s Health and Nutrition booth #17077 can be found at SupplySide West in The Venetian and Sands Expo where technical and sales representatives will be discussing Huber’s health and nutrition product options and sharing its technical service expertise.
