Powder Coatings
Alumina trihydrate (ATH) is commonly used in powder coatings to facilitate transfer of the coating to the substrate. The choice of ATH product depends on the gloss and film thickness. Huber's SB-632 is the most commonly used ATH grade for this application. Also recommended is Micral® AM550 ATH due to its narrow particle size distribution. These grades of ATH have also been found to reduce the gloss of powder coatings.
